Altair is an off-grid luxury cabin nestled in a quiet field in the Holywell countryside. Designed for two adults and two children, it’s a peaceful retreat for small families looking to slow down, switch off and soak up the beauty of North Wales.

Set within the rolling hills of the Clwydian Range and surrounded by an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Altair invites slow mornings, muddy boots and memory-making walks. Whether you’re sipping something warm on the deck or watching the clouds drift over the hills, this is a place to breathe deeply and reconnect—with nature, with loved ones and with yourself.

Altair is built sustainably in the UK using locally sourced timber, powered entirely by solar and features an eco-friendly no flush composting toilet — making it a stay that’s gentle on the planet and grounding for the soul.

Inside, you’ll find a plush king-size bed, two cosy bunk beds (perfect for children up to around age 13), soft linens, a wood-burning stove and thoughtful touches throughout: natural toiletries, rich coffee and a curated selection of books and games. The kitchen includes a hob burner, cutlery, mini-fridge-freezer and everything you need to cook simple, nourishing meals. Outside, there’s a fire pit and cooking grill for alfresco dinners under the stars.

Altair is pet-friendly, though not fully enclosed — so we recommend keeping a close eye on curious pups. We provide dog bowls, towels, treats and poop bags to make their stay just as comfortable as yours.

Nestled between Mold and Denbigh, Altair is perfectly placed for exploring the best of North Wales. Moel Famau, the highest point in the Clwydian Range, is just a stone’s throw away—offering panoramic views and trails suited to both seasoned hikers and little legs.

Loggerheads Country Park is nearby too, with riverside walks, gentle climbs and a welcoming café to refuel after your adventure.

For a taste of local life, head to the market town of Mold just 15 minutes away, where you’ll find traditional pubs, independent eateries and a weekly market brimming with locally-sourced goods.
